For decades, Coffee Roasting has been a craft built on instinct, patience, and passion. At Air-Motion Roasters, that passion began with a 40-year-old Air Roaster, the very machine that sparked Julian Platt’s vision for something greater.


That original Air Roaster did exactly what it was designed to do: it roasted Coffee. It used hot air to lift the beans, allowing them to move freely and roast evenly. It was simple. Honest. Reliable. But it belonged to a different era. There was no cooling tray integrated into the Roaster. No precision temperature control. No data tracking. No touchscreen interface. It roasted at a set temperature, and the operator worked around the machine rather than with it.


Julian saw something others didn’t. He didn’t see limitations, he saw potential.


He recognised that Air Roasting itself was powerful. The method was clean. It produced bold, expressive flavours. It eliminated the need for gas and reduced maintenance compared to traditional Drum Roasters. But what it lacked was control,  and control is where artistry lives.


So Air-Motion Roasters was born from a simple but ambitious idea: take the brilliance of traditional Air Roasting and re-engineer it for the modern Coffee World.


What we’ve created is not just an updated Coffee Roaster. It is reinvented and reimagined to what an Air Roaster can be.


Our AMR Roasters are fully electric, eliminating the need for gas and creating a cleaner, safer roasting environment. With immediate heat response, our AMR roasters can adjust temperature in real time, responding to the beans as they develop, not minutes later. This level of responsiveness gives roasters the power to shape flavour with intention and precision.



The Open Chamber design allows Roasters to see the beans as they transform, colour change, movement, development, bringing transparency back to the craft. Combined with a modern touch-screen interface and an advanced control panel, our AMR’s can manage heat application, airflow, roast curves, and timing with confidence and clarity.


Most importantly, the consistency is unmatched. Where the old roaster operated at one static temperature, today’s Air-Motion Roaster allows each person to roast exactly how they want to roast. Light and floral. Deep and bold. Complex and layered. The control is in their hands. 


And yet, at its heart, the soul of that 40-year-old machine still lives within every Air-Motion Roaster we build, you see the technology of Air-Roasting remains the same, it is what you do with it that makes all the difference.
